IP-Services Linkages

This chart visualises linkages between intellectual property (IP) assets and various services sectors. Hover services to display linkages with other services sectors, IP objects and modes of supply.

The list of IP assets mainly derives from the TRIPS Agreement. With regard to indigenous cultural intellectual property (ICIP) due to the lack of formal universal definitions the list comes from several ICIP-focused international instruments. The list of services derives from two sources. First, the chart incorporates the list from the New Zealand's Schedule of Specific Commitments to the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) based on 1991 United Nations Provisional Central Product Classification (CPCprov). Second list was hand-picked from the the most recent classification CPC 2.1 in accordance with initial research interests.

How to Use This Visualization

⚠️ Work in Progress: This chart is under review and may contain inconsistencies. Use with caution and report errors.

Hover on Services

Red linkages indicate IP assets that significantly affect trade in services due to their importance for business processes. These also point to a wide scope of commitments for modes of supply. Yellow linkages indicate indirect effects from IP assets and limited commitments for modes of supply. Purple linkages highlight related services sectors in terms of scope or correspondence of classification systems.

Hover on IP Objects

Red linkages show direct effects on services resulting from high dependency on IP assets, while yellow connections demonstrate indirect effects. Purple linkages reveal interconnections amongst IP assets.

Hover on Modes of Supply

Red linkages indicate extensive commitments, while yellow connections represent limited commitments.
